Kelly Services is seeking a Senior Application Engineer for one of our top clients in Jacksonville, FL.

 

Length: 05/15/2021 to 08/15/2021 (Contract to hire W2)

Type: Contract W2—There is no “per diem” with this position. There is no relocation budgeted for this position. If this position requires you to relocate you will be responsible for those costs. NO C2C, at this time we are not in the position to offer any type of sponsorships or VISA transfers for this position.

Job Description:

 

This position will be part of the Mill Systems application team. The associate is responsible for leading and developing cutting edge Manufacturing Execution System SQL applications for the pulp and paper industry providing primary IT business and application support in the Container Board and Consumer mill facilities. As a Senior Application Engineer you will design and develop software solutions tailored to company business needs.

 

Overview:

  • As an Agile development team member, you will have significant influence over the development of new software.
  • You will collaborate with Product Owners, Mill Systems and Production Operations team members on subjects from design to deployment.
  • You will regularly update team management on new methods, tools, and practices to support rapid software development and maximize team productivity.
  • Create technical specification documents (flow, ERD, etc.) based on product owner requirements.
  • Estimates prioritize and plan work items (epics, features, work items, tasks) to be handled during sprint/iterations.
  • Participate in creating and amending development standards, guidelines, and services for common use by other internal software development teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and cross-training to peers in areas of your expertise.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach junior team members.
  • Continually hone and share your knowledge of available tools, process, and methods with the team.
  • Most importantly, you will code. You will code like a champion.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject or related experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience required
  • 5+ years of SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL
  • Experienced in developing Restful, SOA-based, microservices applications
  • Experience working with container tools and big data a plus
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams
  • Experience working with Agile tools like Azure DevOps or JIRA
  • Experience with IDEs like Eclipse, RAD, VS 2017 and source control in TFS or Git
  • Experience with Tomcat, Glassfish or WebSphere
  • Experience with ASP.NET and C#, .NET Framework and .NET Core a plus
  • A passion for learning new technologies and techniques
  • Insatiable desire to help teammates win
  • Experience with report creation, maintenance, metrics, scorecards
  • Candidate must be a team player, adapt well to a multitasking, fast-paced environment and maintain a courteous and professional image
  • Ability to provide after-hours support on a rotating schedule
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%
  • Activities deemed necessary by Management
