Job Summary and Qualifications

The primary purpose of the position is to develop and support interfaces using Cloverleaf 6.X and later versions (and other integration technologies to be adopted in the future). This will involve extensive knowledge of the following: HL7, X.12, TCP/IP, SFTP, TCL (Tool Command Language) Scripting, XML and schemas (DTD, XSD). The candidate must be able to work and communicate with a variety of team members, both functional and technical, across HCA and other organizations to define requirements, resolve issues, and meet deadlines. The candidate must be able to lead teams of engineers in the development and implementation of new interfaces. This position requires a candidate who can analyze business requirements, architect solutions, perform design tasks, construct, test, troubleshoot/support and implement solutions. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter and must be committed to delivering high quality solutions within agreed upon timelines. This position will specifically support HCA’s implementation of 3M™ 360 Encompass™ System for computer-assisted coding. HCA utilizes custom developed deployment and support tools. Adherence to enterprise standards for interfaces is critical as HCA has over 78,000 interfaces across 3,700 sites and is considered the world’s largest implementation of Cloverleaf. Developed interfaces must be parameterized for maximum flexibility to support 210 hospitals, 160 urgent care centers, 152 ambulatory surgery centers and 123 free standing emergency rooms. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter and must be committed to delivering high quality solutions within agreed upon timelines. Daily duties for the Consulting Integration Engineer include: 

• Take a consulting role on assigned projects, making architectural and design recommendations to business owners and technical team members, and make architectural course corrections as necessary for project success. 

• Manage development projects from inception to elaboration, development, testing, and implementation with the help of other assigned resources, and utilizing department-standard integration and development tools. 

• Seek opportunities to improve department processes and technology, and lead efforts to evaluate, propose and implement solutions with direction from management. 

• Perform development using HCA standards and procedures, maintaining code and version control through Azure DevOps, GitHub, and/or other such tools as management determines. 

• Take a lead role with other engineers on the team, providing guidance on software architecture, design decisions, and general technical mentoring. • Completing Unit Testing and lead in Peer/Code Reviews of other developers work. 

• Providing advanced troubleshooting user support working with end users at all levels of the organization. 

Must have 7+ years of relevant work experience 

BS degree preferred 

OTHER/SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS • Expertise in designing and developing Cloverleaf Interfaces • Expertise in Tcl Scripting • Expertise in healthcare integration standards such as HL7 and FHIR • Development tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub • Knowledge of F5 Big-IP for Cloverleaf integration • Knowledge of queuing engines such as Apache Kafka • Periodic on-call support 7 x 24 as required through rotation (including some holidays) • Knowledge of database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases is preferred • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Vue.js, HTML 5, CSS, C# and/or Elixir is preferred PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS • Sitting at desk for 4 to 5 hours at a time viewing computer monitors and typing. • Ability to work nights and weekends when assigned on-call responsibilities.
