To realize this vision, Sunrun’s marketing team is developing advanced strategies to amplify the message, the engagement and the conversion of people to solar power their homes.  We are actively hiring a world-class talent Senior Director, Marketing Operations & Cost Management, reporting to the VP of Marketing. This person will be a key contributor to the ongoing growth and success of Sunrun by supporting the evolving business and data needs of Marketing to drive seamless execution of marketing cross-channel P&L efficiency. Additionally, the Senior Director will be responsible for partnering with Technology teams in the implementation of a new CRM system--ensuring marketing needs are represented and prioritized in all phases.


A successful applicant will be a self-starter who finds both collaborating cross-functionally and thinking critically through data problems equally compelling. We’re looking for a builder as well as an operator, someone who thinks strategically but can also execute, and can drive cross-functional decision making. This role will be part of the marketing leadership team.


  • Combine high level strategic thinking with “roll-up your sleeves to make it happen” mindset
  • Own the marketing P&L and drive regional marketing forecast budgets, set goals and track results while working closely with FP&A and Sales 
  • Improve the efficiency of marketing funnels and programs, while enabling innovation and scale
  • Identify and execute programs to increase marketing impact on growth and decrease the prospecting burden on sales
  • Develop creative, data-driven solutions to complex problems that increase the return on marketing investments
  • Manage marketing operations processes, including lead management, database management, segmentation, multi-touch attribution models, etc.
  • Focus on supporting the end-to-end leads management process from capturing, scoring, filtering, enriching, routing, and assigning high quality leads to the correct sales rep
  • Enable our whole Marketing team by working closely with Brand & Content Marketing, Paid Media Marketing, Affiliate and Co-Marketing and CEE to automate and simplify as many processes as possible, increasing their efficiency while providing a coherent messaging and customer experience
  • Responsible for the strategy and implementation of all marketing technology tools
  • Work closely with our Technology team to build new functionalities and identify, troubleshoot, and correct any issues
  • Responsible for the tracking and reporting of all Marketing Analytics, including all the necessary systems (UTM parameters, attribution, data lake, etc.)
  • Responsible for enabling all marketing teams with dashboards and analytics
  • Represent Marketing’s interests with technology partners by translating business needs into technology requirements/roadmaps and ensuring that the technical solution is ideal for future growth and evolution
  • Own database hygiene and optimization. Develop/execute the strategy for monitoring and improving gaps in data health
  • Coach, develop and upskill junior team members, leveraging their subject matter expertise
  • Communicate the status updates, timing, and implementation plan with Marketing and Leadership team


  • Strong business and financial acumen as well as analytical skills
  • Strong executive presence, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior level stakeholders and colleagues. .
  • Demonstrated ability to piece together fragments of information, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns, and drawing and framing conclusions in real-time.
  • Impeccable time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Extensive experience working with internal stakeholders and project sponsors to define business objectives, establish project milestones and timelines, provide project updates, and clear communications
  • Extensive experience designing and enhancing marketing and/or internal business processes
  • Demonstrable evidence of analyzing, interpreting, and deriving insights from multiple data sources to drive business decisions and outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills, organized and data-oriented with great attention to detail
  • Advanced experience with CRM systems (i.e. Salesforce) and marketing automation platforms
  • Intermediate experience with SQL, PowerBI, or other reporting/data visualization solutions. Experience with Machine Learning is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience working in a Marketing Operations/Automation role
  • 7+ years of management experience
  • Experience working in Salesforce, Anaplan and marketing databases
  • Experience using BI tools like Looker, Data Studio and Google 360
  • Experience designing and implementing data infrastructure systems (data lakehouse, etc) is a plus
  • Advanced/Expert level Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field required; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
