Honeywell is looking for a highly qualified process development engineer with a focus on researching experimental techniques and turning them into mature manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop component manufacturing solutions in controlled atmosphere furnaces in support of laboratory experimentation and manufacturing process development
  • Develop and document sintering and powder metallurgical processes 
  • Craft new test and evaluation methods; Ability to build written test procedures and test reports
  • Develop and apply advanced methodologies, technologies, and design of experiments to build technical solutions that improve porous metal processes and procedures
  • Contribute to design and manufacturing of porous metals for heat exchangers
  • Tasks that require the use and application of scientific methods and tools
  • Testing reliability and repeatability of sinter development process (Gauge R&R)
  • Under limited supervision, you will be responsible for a variety of research and process development responsibilities to advance the technical expertise of the business
  • Perform all necessary activities to accomplish goals within overall cost and schedule projections
  • Execute project subtasks to meet customer specifications (analysis, designing, testing, etc.)
  • Contribute to project reports and presentations
  • Partner with Principal Investigator and Program Management for project execution
  • Help identify new lab equipment and develop facility requirements
  • Anticipate and resolve day-to-day and project issues
  • Occasional travel is required



  • U.S. citizenship and be able to obtain and maintain government security clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering 
  • 5 years of experience with research, design, analysis, and experimentation


  • Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field with materials focus
  • Demonstrated experience with sinter processes and techniques, with an understanding of the impact of environmental parameters (e.g., temperature, mechanical pressure, controlled atmosphere) 
  • Experience transitioning innovative components and processes from research and development to manufacturing (design for manufacturing)
  • Ability to identify a technical development need and the resourcefulness to address the need through a combination of research, analysis, and experimentation
  • Understanding of experimental design to capture the desired data; Critical thinking in process planning, execution, and validation
  • Material and process characterization such as adsorption testing, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing
  • HALT and HASS testing to determine component reliability
  • Demonstrated experience with vacuum brazing and diffusion bonding processes and techniques
  • Familiarity with the use of sensors, data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, and LabVIEW
  • Experience developing rapid prototypes of test fixtures and tooling as needed
  • Sound and timely technical discernment and opinions
  • Self-motivation, strong interpersonal and technical skills, and be good at working with customers, partners, and colleagues; Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
