**PEM Electrolyser Research Scientist**


We are looking for a talented PEM Research Scientist to join our team specializing in hydrogen fuel cell power systems technology for our # _NewPower_ Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.

+ Involved with all aspects of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser stack development program.

+ Participates in the design, improvement, outsourcing, selection, evaluation and testing of PEM Electroyser stack and their subcomponents.

+ Plans and monitors performance test and durability test of PEM Electrolyser stack.

+ Processes and reviews test data, generate test reports, and presents test result internally and externally.

+ Collaborates with suppliers of stack subcomponents, including MEA, GDM, BPP, gasket, and hardware.

+ Provides technical support to sub-system and system testing.

+ Conducts literature and patent research for the latest technology development and breakthrough.

+ Perform routine diagnostics and maintenance on the test components and equipment.

+ Development of stack product platform for commercial applications.

+ Coordinate stack product development and performance goals with commercial road map.

+ Maintain environmental health and safety within the research laboratories


To be successful in this role you will need the following:

+ A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Materials Science.

+ Experience in product design, prototyping, validation, or industrial research and development

+ Understanding of fluid thermodynamics, heat transfer, two phase flow and corrosion science

+ Strong material characterization skills (SEM, TEM, XRD, XRF, FTIR, etc)

+ Extensive experience of electrochemical diagnostic methods (EIS, CV, LSV etc...)

+ Excellent knowledge of Applied Electrochemistry and experience in designing and testing procedures for electrochemical systems and data interpretation

+ In depth understanding and experience of AST protocols for fuel cells or electrolysers

+ 5 years R&D and experience in PEM fuel cell or water electrolysis. Industry experience is preferred.
