**(CTCC) Instrumentation Engineering Technician - Sr Charleston, SC**

**Description**

Installs, configures, calibrates and repairs instrumentation systems. Develops proper instrumentation setup and troubleshoots issues as they occur.

Operates, calibrates, installs, programs, repairs, designs, and fabricates instrumentation and data acquisition systems.

Maintains data acquisition systems, test cells operations, rigs and rig rooms; calibrates, installs, programs, troubleshoots, repairs and assembles test systems,

general and specialized instrumentation.

Installs, operates, modifies, and troubleshoots PCs and PC networks used for instrumentation engineering activities.

Evaluates and specifies new equipment; develops new technology; installs and maintains electronic engine monitoring systems.

Fabricates and assembles test fixtures and servo-hydraulic systems; operates, troubleshoots, and repairs hydraulic systems, shakers, and rigs; calibrates transducers and systems; installs and calibrates strain gauges and thermocouples (micro).

Performs other duties as required.

**Qualifications**

**Education, Licenses, Certifications**

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

A regionally applicable Certification (e.g. US Department of Labor) or two year Associates Degree from an accredited college program in a relevant field of study.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

**Experience**

Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

**Education:**

High School Diploma, GED orequivalent required with Department of Labor Certification

OR High School Diploma, GED orequivalent required with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a relevant field

OR an Associate Degree in a relevantfield and at least 2 years of relevant experience

OR a Bachelor's Degree in a relevantfield

**Additional Functions:**

+ Knowledge of emissions test regulations particularly the 40CFR1065 and ISO-8178

+ Knowledge of emissions test systems and related components (Exhaust Gaseous Emissions Measurement, Exhaust Particulate Matter Measurement & Constant Volume Sampling; Fundamentals Of Measurements, Test System Design And Diagnostics, Flow Measurement, & Calibration Procedures; and Computer Based Data Acquisition, Torque Measurement, Pressure Measurements, Temperature Measurement, Humidity Measurement, Fuel Consumption Measurement & Test Control Software). Understands fundamental operating principles.

+ Knowledge of emissions data post processing and database extraction tools

+ Knowledge of engine dynamometer testing

+ Knowledge of internal combustion engines and emission formation mechanisms

+ Track emissions-related M TE items, and ensure items are maintained

+ Ability to maintain both gaseous and PM systems including NDIR, FTIR, HFID, HCLD, Bosch-smoke, gravimetric PM, and opacity meters.
