Overview

The Senior Global Category Manager for Labor reports to the Director of Strategic Sourcing and is responsible for identifying, evaluating, selecting and managing key suppliers that provide major materials, supplies and services that are required enterprise- wide across all Vectrus Programs. The Senior Global Category Manager may be responsible for a single commodity with multiple key suppliers or several commodities, with single or multiple suppliers. The Senior Global Category Manager is required to establish and authorize the acquisition of materials, supplies and services by the Region Procurement Centers Supply Chain Personnel, to be able to obtain products and services through utilizing the 7-step sourcing methodology providing pre-negotiated price and delivery made, at the least total landed cost. Maintains supplier performance measurements, reports supplier performance and conducts supplier performance reviews, contributes to the development and conduct annuals supplier reviews, establishing performance requirements and resolving supplier business issues with Vectrus. The Senior Global Category Manager will work with the Region Procurement Centers to improve supplier performance and the resolution of supplier issues and establishes and achieve annual cost improvement targets for their commodities.


Responsibilities

  • Effectively manages the key suppliers of their commodity areas and improves the cost of materials, products, supplies, and services their assigned commodity suppliers provide.
  • Utilizes the 7-step sourcing methodology to provide strategic commodity plans for their designated commodities.
  • In conjunction with the Director, Strategic Sourcing, to be proactive in the identification and evaluation of potential suppliers that can meet Vectrus enterprise wide demand requirements, provide alternative or replacement materials, products, supplies and services with better performances and lower total landed costs.
  • Maintain regular communication with their suppliers regarding supplier performance, improvement requirements, corrective action, new opportunities and new programs
  • Understand the availability of their suppliers products and product key ingredients to ensure availability and if needed, alternatively sources the goods and services
  • Lead and execute the contract negotiations with their suppliers and assists with the development and implementation of the terms and conditions that are equitable to the supplier and Vectrus
  • Conduct annual supplier reviews and develop planning with the supplier for the next year.
  • Develop and understand any potential small and/or diverse businesses within the commodity
  • Understand and review risks that may influence supplier performance, costs and availability and develop resolutions to mitigate the risks
  • Responsible for managing to yearly targeted improvements
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required (Supply Chain or Business/Finance preferred)

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years lead/leadership/management experience required in commodity or procurement role dealing with large diverse suppliers

  • Demonstrated analytic and business problem solving skills
  • Ability to influence internal changes, work effectively in a team environment and have ability to work with dynamic environments
  • Articulate and persuasive communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and quality of work
