Eaton of Marshall, MI has a cooperative employment opportunity for an engineering student with a Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical Engineering background. The primary function of the Cooperative candidate is to be responsible for assisting in the development and application of passenger car and commercial vehicle products. This individual will work with senior product engineers to deliver solutions to challenging product improvements, cost out, and manufacturing plant projects. This position will work year around; part time while going to school with flexible hours based on school schedule and full time during the summer.

Essential Functions:

+ Support Product Engineers in development and execution of test plans to validate new designs.

+ Perform failure root cause analysis and problem solving within a team to identify and isolate product issues and recommend solutions.

+ Develop detailed engineering materials including technical reports to provide product documentation.

+ Communicate plans, status, and results to senior engineers and leadership.

+ Collaborate with suppliers, internal laboratories and test track facilities to ensure the successful completion of product development and validation testing.

+ Work in a team environment to identify process improvements, product cost reductions, and reliability improvements.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

+ University student currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

+ Available to work at least 20 hours per week.

+ Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher (please don't round).

+ Relocation is not provided for this role, candidate must be located within 50 miles of Marshall, MI.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ University student currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

+ Available for Full-time employment during summer.

+ Engineering knowledge and experience in product development from concept to product launch and product post launch.

+ Demonstrated problem solving and failure analysis skills.

+ Self-motivated and possessing a drive for results.

+ Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.

+ Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or community.
