Greater China Controller / Regional Finance Center Leader

Greater China Controller ensures that the organization in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan operates strong internal controls and high standards of financial reporting and accounting compliance. The person is the primary owner of all the US GAAP and legal entity reporting in the region.

This role will lead the continued implementation of our Honeywell-wide controllership strategy in Greater China into the next phase by driving end-to-end organization & process integration, and partner with various internal groups, the business and our external service provider to optimize process and improve efficiency.

This role will lead all our Enterprise Controllership team in China/Hong Kong/Taiwan and the Regional Finance Center at Shanghai; and is the primary interface between Honeywell and our regional BPO service provider Genpact (at Dalian).

This role reports into the APAC Regional Finance Leader and is a key member of the regional finance leadership team and an important partner to the regional business, tax and treasury teams. Other key partners include External/Internal Auditors, Corporate Finance and Functional Management and SBG Finance.

Accounting (US/Local GAAP) and Controls

·         Lead the Organization in the sub-region to ensure compliance with both the US and local accounting standards, Statutory requirements and Honeywell policy.

·         Drive and co-ordinate the period-end closing activities. Ensure the accounts are recorded and reported on-time, with quality and in full compliance with US GAAP.

·         Own the Statutory Accounting Policy and Process. Ensure timely and accurate filing of Statutory Financial Statements. Review, approve and submit various regulatory reports/files including Corporate Income Tax Returns, monthly Consolidated Tax Packs, VAT and Withholding Tax reports.

·         Drive the resolution of complex, material accounting issues with alignment with SBG and Commercial Finance teams.

·         Drive and ensure strong internal controls and oversee improvements in the control framework.  Execute key controls including reviewing high-risk Account Reconciliation and leading material Balance Sheet Review, and ensure timely remediation of control risks.

·         Manage relationship with external auditors including group, statutory and tax auditors. Plan, co-ordinate and support all internal and external audits in the sub-region.

Functional Transformation

·         Manage relationship with our regional BPO service provider and oversea the operation to ensure consistency, effectiveness and productivity.

·         Lead and deploy Enterprise Controllership Model in Greater China and ensure alignment/consistency with the target Finance Operating Model and key stakeholders.

·         Lead/co-ordinate the controllership aspects of the site assessment and integration/transition of business entities into regional finance center back office.

·         Oversee and ensure successful deployment of transition/transformation projects.

·         Oversee and manage budgetary plans for controllership in Greater China and Regional Finance Center

·         Drive Controllership HOS initiatives and improve process consistency, standardization & effectiveness and organizational productivity.

Business, Tax & Treasury Partnering

·         Partner/Advise business on complex accounting issues.  Support Mergers & Acquisitions due diligence and integration planning.  Support divestiture due diligence and planning.

·         Partner with Tax on tax planning and restructuring projects. Monitor and advise on robust tax reporting / submissions to authorities.

·         Partner with Treasury to safeguard and optimize free cash, investment of free cash and to co-ordinate restructuring, acquisition funding, etc.

·         Partner with business leaders and provide value-adding financial services and advice. Be the “Go-To” person for China HGR President.


·         BA and Financial Accounting Qualification

·         At least 15 years of extensive finance experience in a large, multi-national corporation

·         Extensive US GAAP and Local GAAP knowledge

·         Indirect (VAT, Withholding Tax), Direct (Corporate Tax) knowledge

·         Strong leadership attributes
