Overview

Responsible to the assigned supervisor. Work with other craftsman or crews in the performance of assigned work duties. Coordinates work/inspections with facility managers/occupants. Must be able to troubleshoot and identify problems. Researches and requisitions materials, and prepares necessary documents and reports. Makes necessary repairs to fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems and their components for compliance with specifications. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operations upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours. Works directly with other technicians and provides support to maintenance team. This position subject to CBA.


Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Inspects, troubleshoots, tests, installs and modifies Fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
  • Accomplishes periodic inspections, recurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation.
  • Maintains systems to conform to written guidance and applicable changes.
  • Maintains required operating forms and records and assures proper use of all assigned shop equipment.
  • Responsible for on-the-job training as required.
  • Performs quality assurance through job site visits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.

 

Material &Equipment Directly Used:

 

Hand tools, specialty tools, gauges, electronic devices/meters, jigs, alignment devices and web based computer maintenance and inventory programs.  Steel Toe shoes are required.  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted.  Such PPE includes, but is not limited to: Face Mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.  Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).

 

 

Working Environment:

 

Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors, hangars, and warehouses. Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolong sitting and occasional working in cramped and awkward position.

 

 

Physical Activities:

 

Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs, as well as bend, twist, and squad for prolonged periods.  Must be able to pull, push and lift up to 50 pounds. Function in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing dirt and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required is certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.


Qualifications

Education / Certifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and three (3) years additional education and/or experience.
  • NICET Fire Alarm level II certification
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Active Secret Clearance.

 

Experience:

  • Four (4) years' troubleshooting, repairing, installation and/or replace fire/duress alarm systems.

 

Skills:

  • Experienced in troubleshooting, Inspecting, testing, and installing Fire Alarm control panels and their devices.
  • Knowledgeable in analog and digital electronics.
  • Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties.
