**Japan EBU Engineering Director**

**Description**

+ This technical leadership position develops and delivers technical talent in a research, technology or product development environment. Directly manages the resources that maximize organizational productivity in support of business needs and establishes/implements longer term business strategies. The position also includes maintaining strong working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders both within the technical function and across the broader business.

+ Primary responsibility is the development of technically capable people across multiple technical sites within a business unit or corporate area, and making people available to perform duties necessary to satisfy the businesses technical needs.

+ Provides technical leadership for the business's most complex global technical challenges.

+ Sets the direction for the development and improvement of work processes and systems across function(s) within a global business unit or across business units.

+ Coaches and mentors the future technical leaders across a global business unit or corporate area. Assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.

+ Develops strategies, creates or improves work processes involving activities such as resource allocation and management, organizational and business change, customer/stakeholder management and knowledge management; all used for the purposes of enabling high quality decision making that meets business expectations.

+ Decisions made in this role may include resource deployment cost and timing allocations, project prioritization, personnel staffing, and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) management, the result of which can impact project cost and delivery within a site or across several sites within a business unit.

+ Establishes employee performance standards; works collaboratively to set goals and address areas of deficiency.

**Education, Licenses, Certifications**

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

**Experience**

Proven leadership as a Technical Advisor or Technical/Engineering Senior Manager working in a product, technology or engineering service area with a successful track record of developing technical talent and enabling high performing teams that deliver on project expectations through a range of varying business scenarios and/or life-cycles. Advanced level proficiency in many of the enterprise and functional competency areas.

Provide overall engineering leadership for Japan EBU Engineering organization across multiple OEM customers,technical functions, and product line applications. This includes overseeing activities acrossexisting Japan engineering application, controls, and service/quality membersto coordinate projects and help mentor and develop the growth of local EBUengineering capability.

Serve as the connection pointbetween Japan and global EBU Engineering organizations for both current productand VPI activities. This requires havingor the ability to build strong relationships with EBU leaders globallyincluding Platform Leaders, key VPI program TPLs, World-Wide Chief Product Engineers,and engineering functional leaders.

Lead discussions directly withexisting and prospective OEM partners on the use of Cummins products, communicate status of programs, and resolve any issues related to use of Cumminsproducts.

Strong Japanese / English duallanguage capability / fluency is desired and will be necessary to effectively interact with both Cummins global and Japan local stakeholders.
