The Receiver, Exciter and Signal Processing (RESP) Department within the Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) Electrical Products Team (EPT) is seeking engineering professionals to be part of the Analog and RF Engineering teams that design, develop, integrate and test the most technologically advanced Radars in the world.

The work centers for these positions are in the Tewksbury and Andover facilities.

The RESP Department is the focal point for receiver, exciter, beam steering, and signal processing technology. The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, support to production builds and lifecycle support of RMD products. There is flexibility for the engineers in the RESP department to move across design disciplines and to experience all the stages in the product___s development lifecycle.

The Principal Engineer in this position will be responsible for leading the Architecture and the development of a radar receiver exciter. The selected candidate will be expected to lead diverse teams, provide technical oversight, delegate tasks, and work with the Engineering organization to establish technology roadmaps, and contribute to general innovation, engineering services relative to the design, procurement, build, test, integration, and sustainment of RMD products. Successful candidates will be expected to solve complex technical problems and provide highly innovative and ingenious solutions.

As a Receiver Exciter (REX) Architecture Engineer, it is expected that the candidate works across Product Lines and Business Units to shape the future of the enterprise. Additionally, a Principal Electrical Engineer must seek out and establish mentorships to enable a teaching culture.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of system design, subsystem design, architectural (functional and physical) trade analysis of receivers, exciters and related products, architecting, designing, implementing, and testing radar receiver exciters
  • Demonstrated experience managing and presenting technical data to stakeholders and customers in design reviews and technical interchange meetings
  • Technical leadership with capture/pursuit experience, including contribution or authoring of white papers, RFI responses, proposal of technical volumes, or related experience
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within one year of start date.
Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in math, engineering, science or related technical field.
Desired Experience and Skills:
  • Masters of Science (MS) or PhD in electrical engineering
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities from multiple sources
  • Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment with positive interaction
  • Demonstrated ability to put forth and drive technical execution plans
  • Knowledgeable of management processes, such as IPDS, EVMS, etc.
  • Experience with hardware/firmware/software integration and test
  • Broad knowledge of radar systems to understand system level requirements allocation and dependencies
  • Familiarity with all stages of the radar system product lifecycle, including early concept/trade studies, design, integration, verification, and transition to production
  • Familiarity with assessing program level risks to performance objectives and communicating status to business leadership and customer community
  • Must be comfortable with complex issues that span multiple domains of electrical, RF, digital and software
