An entry level Research Assistant/Technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Chih-Chi Andrew Hu with a focus on Immune Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Drug Discovery. The successful candidate will conduct independent laboratory research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and interact daily with other highly motivated scientists. The position will focus on the study of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated stress signaling molecules to understand how they promote survival, metastasis and chemoresistance in cancer. A key component of this effort is the identification and development of new drug candidates targeting the ER stress response pathways for the treatment of cancer.

Education:  B.A/B.S degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Biology.

Experience: Laboratory research experience of one or more years gained while pursuing undergraduate degree.  Candidates with publications or other evidence of research accomplishments are preferred.

  1. Implements appropriate interventions to ensure quality outcomes. Conducts quality audits on equipment, processes, outcomes and team member performance. Documents, develops and evaluates processes, procedures and outcomes. (EF)
  2. Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement, providing recommendations, and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety. Assists with the implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice. (EF)
  3. Independently performs the safe collection and handling of human/animal tissue, blood or other biological specimens which includes animal handling and may include basic animal husbandry. (EF)
  4. Assists with writing laboratory protocols or procedures. (EF)


  1. Evaluates and reports on inventory levels. Works with leadership to order appropriate laboratory supplies and equipment. (EF)
  2. Utilizes resources effectively and efficiently, demonstrating responsible financial stewardship. Manages own time effectively, minimizing incidental overtime, and prioritizes work to achieve maximum results in a timely manner. (EF)
