This Control Room Operations Dispatcher will be responsible for:
  • Monitoring and operating all hospital audio and visual security equipment including closed circuit surveillance cameras, intercoms, security computer systems linked to door and panic alarms throughout the hospital complex, and remote access door systems. Providing access for ambulance transfers and MedFlights
  • Monitoring all fire alarm systems for the hospital complex. Responsible for activation of internal procedures and dispatching. Contacting Boston Fire Department through use of direct emergency phone and informs the fire department of current alarm status and location. Dispatching security and hospital engineering personnel and contacts appropriate hospital personnel to notify them of activity associated with the fire alarm systems
  • Monitoring, operating and interpreting information relevant to Life Safety and critical care systems within the hospital such as building engineering systems, facility automation systems, life support generators, and medical gas systems. Dispatching appropriate engineering personnel to respond to activity associated with equipment systems. Assisting engineering and contractor personnel in drills, testing engineering and security equipment
  • Dispatching requests for assistance to appropriate personnel
  • Initiating contact with hospital’s safety departments and outside agencies such as police, fire, public works department and ambulance companies during situations such as internal and external disasters
  • Maintaining duty logs, recording all pertinent activity during each shift. Operating each shift independently, and is required to make decisions during emergency situations. Maintains alarm printouts of all engineering and security alarms for the complex. Entering work orders for all maintenance requests
  • Reporting system malfunctions, technical problems and operational difficulties to department management
  • Performing tests and verification of hospital emergency cellular phones as well as verifying and testing emergency telephone numbers to neighboring institutions, ambulance companies, and outside contractors
  • Monitoring multiple radio frequencies simultaneously and must discern priorities

To qualify, you must have:
  • A High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ year of previous experience
  • The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are critical and life threatening
  • The ability to exchange information on factual matters, schedule appointments, greet visitors, explain hospital policies and/or relay messages to appropriate personnel
Schedule: Mon & Tues: 7:00a - 3:30p; Fri, Sat & Sun: 3:00p - 11:00p
