At Houston Methodist, the Clinical Practice Manager is responsible for oversight and leadership in developing and directing the daily operations of the clinic. Assists in the delivery of quality health care and patient care management. Implements operational improvements to promote a safe, patient focused environment. Serves as a clinic resource to the staff regarding clinic operations, quality, patient experience, and staff engagement. Works collaboratively with clinic medical staff and with system wide administrative and medical staff as needed.

PEOPLE - 20 %

  1. Performs the functions of a RN as needed, assists providers as directed; provides professional nursing assessment, identifies and performs nursing care which requires complex and professional assessments; assists with procedures, administers prescribed medications by set standards and maintains accurate and complete records of nursing care and observations.   2. Coordinates, manages, and operates all clinic activity including the interpretation of clinical policies and procedures. (EF)
  3. Assume the responsibility and accountability of managing the clinic and delegating authority, for clinic staff. (EF)
  4. Manages, monitors and documents the performance management/appraisal process for staff establishing work standards and expectations by providing feedback regularly. Mentors, coaches and develops staff to accomplish goals; takes responsibility for identifying developmental needs and creating action plans to enhance growth and development of the team. (EF)

SERVICE - 20 %
  1. Develops and maintains scheduling for providers, provider extenders, appointment, and surgical scheduling. (EF)
  2. Interfaces with patients, providers, and staff to resolve patient satisfaction issues. (EF)
  3. Is the first line contact for providers and staff needing information or support regarding daily clinical operations of the practice. (EF)

  1. Performs safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe and clean environment. (EF)
  2. Develops, implements, and maintains Quality Enhancement Programs. (EF)
  3. Monitors key clinical operational indicators including all licenses and certifications of staff, quality metrics such as in basket utilization, clinical close rate, etc. Assesses current performance and develops action plans to achieve optimal performance. (EF)

FINANCE - 25 %
  1. Assists in developing and monitoring the clinic budget and generating practice operational or clinical reports as needed. (EF)
  2. Fiscal administration of clinic practice to include purchasing, inventory management and monthly account management. (EF)

  1. Identifies opportunities to streamline clinical practice operations to gain efficiencies. Shares ideas through peer network through participation in committees, professional development opportunities or divisional meetings. (EF)
  2. Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory system/clinic requirements.
  3. Completes Superuser Training for EPM/EMR system to maximize practice operations and support. (EF)

  • Graduate of education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certificates, Licenses and Registrations section.
  • Bachelor Degree required

  • 7 years clinic experience


  • Registered Nurse with current Texas license.
  • Current BLS (American Heart Association) certification
  • ACLS Preferred


  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through on-going skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers in a manner consistent with a customer service focus and application of positive language principles.
