Operates maintenance program for hospital clinical equipment. Evaluates maintenance alternatives and monitors performance of service vendors. Recommends best choice for quality and value to hospital management. Serves as department Training and Safety Officer. Serves on department Quality Improvement committee.


  1. Obtains quotes for equipment service contracts.
  2. Performs analysis of proposals.
  3. Submits appropriate requisitions for contracts and equipment service. Coordinates approval by hospital management.
  4. Organizes and coordinates maintenance activities and collects documentation related to equipment service actions. Ensures adequate performance of service vendors by interaction with vendors and equipment owners.
  5. Generates documentation for program costs. Works with Financial Accounting on payment of invoices.
  6. Recommends or establishes inventory of replacement parts and accessories for
  7. clinical equipment.
  8. Serves as department Training and Safety Officer. Maintains documentation related to personnel training, hazard communication compliance, and safety inspections.
  9. Serves on the department Quality Improvement committee.
  10. Demonstrates the components of the ICARE values statement.
  11. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
  12. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
  13. Maintains high customer satisfaction.


TRAININGEXPERIENCEB.S. Degree or A.A.S. Degree 3 years

  • Computer literacy relating to word processing, database, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Oral and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills, technical
  • judgment, knowledge of JCAHO, FDA, AAMI, AHA, and ECRI standards and practices.
  • Skilled in the use of standard and specialized test equipment and tools used for the maintenance of clinical equipment.
  • Skilled in diagnostic troubleshooting of clinical equipment.
  • On the job training necessary:
  •   a. Continuing Education Courses  b. Skill in using computerized Equipment Management System.
