Position Summary

Entry Level Position - The A/P A/R Specialist is a metrics-driven position responsible for accurate and timely processing of payment runs, and maintaining an assigned AR portfolio of accounts. It is expected that the employee will maintain a highly organized work process, and continuously look for opportunities for process improvement implementation. This employee is expected to work well within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend and follow best practices related to Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
  • Complete all tasks in a safe manner, complying with all company safety related policies and procedures.
  • AP - Accurately enter vendor invoices into the company’s business system.
  • AP - Call vendors and distribution managers when invoice copies, proof of delivery and statements are needed to resolve issues.
  • AP - Reconcile vendor statements and intercompany charges timely and accurately. Accurately prepare month end accruals.
  • AP - Research and resolve Received-Not-Vouchered items, escalating appropriately.
  • AR – contact customers whose accounts are in past due status, and collect on the past due amounts.
  • AR – Maintain customer accounts as appropriate, providing invoice copies, statements, refunds, and keeping current status notes on the account.
  • AR – Escalate accounts appropriately within the organization and at the customer.
  • Assist team-members with projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Identify and propose improvements to current processes.

  • Good knowledge of General Accounting Principles
  • Solid computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • Thrives as both an individual contributor and as a team-member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills utilizing the English language
  • Excellent attention to detail with solid follow-up skills
  • Effective problem solving skills and analytical abilities
  • Solid organizational awareness skills with the ability to prioritize tasks & assignments effectively
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency with the ability to meet appropriate deadlines
  • Committed to providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Effective time management skills

  • High School diploma or equivalency required
  • College Degree preferred

    Industry Experience:
  • 1-3 years accounts payable or related experience
  • 1-3 years accounts receivable or related experience
  • Invoice costing experience preferred
