Key Responsibilities

  1. Provides leadership, direction and strategy development and makes final administrative or operational decisions within level of authority.  Ensure group's activities role model safe behavior, follow proper protocol and procedures, including core values.
  2. Lead cross functional teams to support supplier engineering objectives and ensure sourcing decision is consistent with overall strategy.  
  3. Set and drive clear goals for cost savings, value creation and vendor performance in context of business unit operating plan.
  4. Maintain effective relationships with key internal customers and support organizations.  Work with cross functional departments, to develop cost reduction and avoidance initiatives and supply base improvement projects (Maintain Key Relationships).
  5. Utilize deep understanding of industry, supplier dynamics and market trends to determine sources of leverage.  Evaluate, qualify, & select suppliers.  Understand contractual framework and help sourcing in contracting with suppliers executing to AOP.
  6. Collaborate with technical authorities and other operational staff from BUs to develop strategies that support the sourcing objectives globally to deliver the objectives associated with cost, quality and delivery of the business units.
  7. Maintain continuous awareness of ongoing vendor performance in assigned commodity/service areas.  For all high impact vendors, participate in scorecard development, quarterly business reviews for assigned vendors
  8. Participate in problem resolution/escalation arising from vendor performance issues for assigned commodities and services.

  • Negotiates and influences the opinions of others at the senior executive level and in external organizations; exercises sensitivity to the audience
