Occ Summary


Conduct independent research activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor in preparation for afull-time aca demic or research career. Work Performed Seeking a highly motivated post doctoral research associate to investigate genetic and epigenetic causes oflate-onset Alzheimer’s disease. The successful applicant will have a strong and productive scientific record, be highly collaborative, inquis itive, diligent, and have previous experience in one or more of the rele vant fields: human genetics, neurobiology, functional genomics, molecula rbiology, RNA biology, and bioinformatics.


The ideal candi date should be less than two years out from their Ph.D. and should demon strate excellent verbal and written communication skills. The lab invest igates genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling neurodegeneration an dneuronal aging and contributing to neurodegenerative pathologies, and a ge-related brain diseases. To tackle these questions, we employ genomictechnologies, single-cell analyses of human brain tissues, iPSC-derivedmo dels, humanized mouse, bioinformatics tools, and genomic/epigenomic/tran scriptomic datasets. The lab has ongoing collaborations with labs at Duk e as well as with other national and international investigators. Thepri mary goal for this position will be to investigate the underpinningsof h ow Alzheimer’s GWAS discoveries translate to disease causal mechanisms. The postdoctoral associate will implement cutting-edge technologiesin functional genomics, molecular profiling, single-cell analyses, and model systems primarily iPSC gene-edited derived neurons. Additionally, the po stdoctoral associate will have the opportunity to pursue complementary p rojects in the lab at the intersection of molecular genetics and neurode generative diseases in aging.
