HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is a 439-bed acute care facility that has provided quality care to the Lake Houston area for over 25 years. It is home to the area’s only comprehensive cardiac, neuroscience and women services programs. Our Women & Children’s Center provides Level II and III neonatal intensive care units, high-risk obstetrics, a breast diagnostic center, a designated pediatric unit, and the area’s only pediatric emergency department.

HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center

 

What you will do in this role:

  •  Responsible for the oversight of physician credentialing and privileging (initial and reappointments) and all medical reviews related to the quality of patient care for evidence based standards and/or medical specialty selected triggers (ie Medical Peer Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE etc.)
  •  Responsible for the review process of data collection and studies involving medical care  evaluation/improvement efforts to include criteria for professional ongoing practice evaluation (OPPE) and triggers indicating need for focused professional evaluations
  •  Directs, coordinates and is ultimately accountable for hospital-wide approach to identify process barriers trends and or practice variations with regard to appropriateness of patient care centered evidence based guidelines and outcomes
  • .Provides oversight and management for medical staff meetings and ensures the flow of information that goes through the Medical Executive Committee and Board of Trustees to include performance improvement activities and findings
  • Serves as a resource to medical staff and Sr Management for facility specific Medical bylaws, State and Federal rules, regulations, requirements and standards
  • Ensures the facility remains compliant with accrediting and regulatory agencies (ie Joint Commission CMS etc.) in regards to credentialing and Peer Reviews
  • Serves as a project facilitator/manager and technical resource for teams working on performance improvement efforts
  • Works to maintain close communication with medical staff leaders hospital administration and legal counsel on selected medical staff issues 
  • Maintains  confidentiality of all business/work of medical staff information

 

Qualifications 

What qualifications you will need

  •  Bachelor’s Degree  preferred  
  • Experience with Medical Staff processes preferred
  • Two years of progressively more responsible experience in Quality/Process Improvement leadership in  a healthcare environment required
  • Knowledge of healthcare related regulatory,  accreditation requirements and surveys
  • Certification as a certified Medical Staff coordinator (CMSC) and Certification Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS)
