Performs a variety of functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation of electric energy. Work involves (including, but not limited to) installing, removing, and operating electrical generating and control systems, automatic transfer switches, aircraft arresting systems, vehicle arresting system, and associated equipment. Check equipment for serviceability. Other assigned duties as needed to support the customer and mission.


  1. Position equipment such as gasoline and diesel engines, generators, switchgears, air compressors, and other generating auxiliary equipment. Install, configure, and certify aircraft arresting systems, as required.
  2. Checks installed equipment to ensure compliance with publications, policies, and directives.
  3. Inspects, tests, and services components systems such as safety, fuel, lubrication, cooling, air pressure, pumps, regulators, governors, and accessory equipment.
  4. Observes and interprets instruments such as amp meters, volt meters, frequency meters, synchroscopes, automatic temperature and pressure recorders, and engine oil, fuel, and coolant gauges.
  5. Adjusts engine generator systems to maintain proper voltages, current frequency, and synchronization.
  6. Operates high and low voltage switches, circuit breakers, rheostats, and other controls on switchgear and distribution panels.
  7. Read blueprints which indicate the locations of circuits, outlets, load centers, panel boards, and other equipment.
  8. Perform periodic maintenance on vehicle arresting system. Connect wires to circuit breakers or other components
  9. Use testing equipment, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to check the circuits for proper connections, ensuring electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  10. Perform preventive/recurring maintenance. Periodically inspect equipment and locate and correct problems before breakdowns occur.
  11. Makes necessary repairs as quickly as possible in order to minimize inconvenience. Work with Engineers, engineering technicians, or industrial machinery installation, repair, and maintenance workers.


Education/Certification: Valid state driver's license. Must already possess or obtain within 90 days - flightline certification. 

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of power production experience and/or equivalent military experience. Gasonline and diesel repair experience required.


Skills: Installing and configuring aircraft arresting systems. Ability to interact with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner. Must be able to qualify for a SECRET security clearance, if required. Must have a basic knowledge of computers and be able to input and extract data. Must become flightline certified.
