ManTech’s Air Force and Space Division is recruiting highly talented candidates to support a contract that provides “cradle to grave” support to the United States Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Launch Systems Enterprise Directorate’s – National Security Space Launch (NSSL).

We assist the Air Force by supporting a multitude of areas, including Systems Engineering & Integration, Acquisition & Program Management Support, Mission Integration Management, System Safety & Environmental Engineering, Systems Security & Information Assurance, Launch Schedule and Risk Management, Certification of New Entrant Launch Vehicles.  

ManTech is actively seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in the Decatur, AL area.

General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • ManTech’s Air Force and Space Division is seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to support new entrant certification of the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Vulcan launch vehicle system.  The position supports the Space and Missile Systems Center Launch Enterprise Directorate (SMC/LEA) and will be located at ULA’s factory in Decatur, AL.

    General Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with launch vehicle provider to schedule and track audits to be performed during rocket certification activities. 

  • Develop, conduct, and assess results of audits of flight critical item manufacture and processes per applicable military and industry/commercial manufacturing standards such as AS9100, AS6500.

  • Create audit plans and checklists, and conduct hardware floor audits to verify documented processes are being followed. 

  • Interface with customer, design engineers, project manager, and production personnel. 

  • Compile and present weekly status charts to AF leadership.

  • Examine product design and its implementation to Quality processes assessing/evaluating the Quality/Manufacturing baseline for qualification, capability, process control. 

  • Assess documentation for proper configuration management and change control. 

  • Assess/ evaluate conformance to standards, specifications, drawings, procedures, work instructions, other contractual requirements and the traceability to the functional and physical characteristics of configuration items. 

  • Review process changes to determine impact to Quality and process stability. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering and/or related field.
  • 10 years of experience involving producibility or manufacture of complex products; application of modern quality principles and methods including: quality management system standards, product and process controls, measurement and test, audits, statistical applications, corrective and preventive actions, and lean manufacturing. 
  • Experience with the manufacture and/or quality processes for spacecraft or launch vehicle systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel up to 25% time.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
