Business Development Manager (m/f/d) for Energy Market

This position focuses on in introduction and adoption of HON Advanced Detection (AD) offerings within the Germany region and requires proactive engagement of HON AD target markets and key channel partners (new and established).

It will require the identification, targeting and adoption of target end user and influencer groups and close collaboration with the regional Key Account Management teams to ensure routes to markets are optimised for growth to meet HON AD STRAP objectives

The overriding objective of this role is to increase HON AD sales within Germany through the development of new and existing market segments and the effective engagement of key channel partners.

Development and management of Advanced Detection (AD) offering with strategic end user accounts; target markets and AD channel partners.


Identify, Develop and Close Business with End Users by:

  • Assessing and identifying prime end user targets
  • Approaching; engaging and developing relationships with key decision makers
  • Understanding end user requirements to maximise AD footprint
  • Developing, presenting and securing proposals for HON AD offering adoption

Ensure Channel Partner readiness:

·        Understand the regional NPI pipeline and any AD growth initiatives for existing offerings

·        Work with the AD Channel Management team to prioritise and plan key account engagement

·        Prepare, present and follow up with partners to ensure AD offering value is accepted and work with
         channel team to implement appropriate channel plans for market adoption

Raise awareness with Industry Influencers to positively impact the adoption and specification of AD offerings:

·        Understand the influencer network for target verticals/industries

·        Assess and identify key influencers to engage

·        Approach engage and develop relationships with key influencers

·        Prepare, present and follow up with target influencers to ensure AD offering value is understood and

Key Success Factors 

·        Align annual activity plan with Offering Management NPI deliverables (be owner of regional customer
         facing roadmap)

·        Establish market engagement plans for all NPIs in region (including existing/new channels; target
         influencers and target customers) to support NPI Say/Do plan.

·        Establish “top customer list” to target/approach/engage/nurture (as appropriate) for region

·        Align and support KAM account engagement plans as appropriate

·        Build new pipeline for AD in target verticals (annual target to be set)

·        Support channel proposals/presentations in alignment with channel team planning


·      Bachelor’s Degree or Higher Education Certificate preferred

·      Minimum 5 years fire industry (or similar B2B industry) experience

·      Minimum 5 years demonstrable experience in sales/marketing/business development in B2B markets

·      Experience in vertical market development of high technology products strongly preferred

·      End User engagement preferred

·      Strong communication / negotiation and presentation skills

·      Ability to interpret and present value-based propositions

·      Awareness of B2B routes to market and influencing techniques

·      Strong business acumen, able to influence customer assessment and adoption

·      Ability to engage and negotiate at multiple levels within an organisation

·      Consultative selling skills in a technical market

·      Ability to develop, negotiate and present proposals

·      Strong writing skills in English and German
