Overview

Plan, implement, upgrade, or monitor security measures for the protection of computer networks and information. May ensure appropriate security controls are in place that will safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure. May respond to computer security breaches and viruses. Applies fundamental concepts, processes, practices, and procedures on technical assignments. Performs work that requires practical experience and training. Work is performed under supervision.


Responsibilities

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: 

  1. Assist in development of exercise network architectures, and assistance with execution of information assurance (IA) policy and procurement, design, testing and accreditation of cross domain security (CDS) components such as Radiant Mercury.
  2. Assist in conduct of information assurance (IA) activities to ensure system hardening IAW DoD IA policy.
  3. Assist the government maintaining inventory control, vehicle and facility access and control, COMSEC control, and classified storage requirements of IT related technologies.

 

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:  

Standard office equipment to include Government provided computers, printers, scanners, telephone.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is completed in a climate-controlled facility/office.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Should be able to lift 40 pounds.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications

 

Degree in related field desired

  • Security+ and a System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification within 180 days of date of award of the base period of performance
  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Active Secret Clearance 

Experience:

 

Up to 3 years of experience

Skills:

 

Desired knowledge, skills and experience in any of the following:

  • Homeland Defense Operations and C4ISR systems networks
  • Military tactical data links, encryption equipment, and radio communication devices
  • Advanced surveillance and security systems for fixed and mobile facilities including DOD information assurance requirements.
  • Experience in Local Area Network (LAN) design, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment.
  • Modeling and simulation.
