Job Description:

Civil  Roadway Engineer II  –  Transportation Infrastructure – Memphis , TN

This position can be virtual based initially, with eventual relocation.     

Opportunity :

 Parsons Corporation has immediate openings for an  experienced   Civil Roadway & Highway Engineer II .  This role is for supporting design engineering of various Tennessee Indiana and Kentucky state  DOT projects , as well as other surrounding regional projects.

The selected Engineer will have road and highway design and engineering experience with interstate roadway projects.  Project design experience with the state DOT  projects in this region is highly desirable.  Experience and a strong understanding of State DOT policies, procedures and guidelines is also a plus. This position can also be based virtually , initially.   


 Responsibilities :  

  • The selected Engineer must also have strong communication skills, and sound experience supporting state DOT road & highway projects  
  • This hire may manage a subtask of a smaller project or study in accordance with contractual obligations. 
  • Responsible for the technical excellence of the engineering functions of the project including coordination of technical disciplines and development of project alternatives, and preliminary and final design.
  • Design horizontal and vertical roadway alignments, and super elevation diagrams, utilizing Microstation Inroad and Open Roads.  
  • Perform quantity calculations project estimates.
  • Providing support and guidance to more junior Engineers in completing project deliverables.
  • Develop details to construction, detour, signing and marking, as well as erosion control drawings.
  • Coordinate with project team and interdisciplinary technical personnel.
  • Assists the project manager in completing the project deliverables.
  • Ensures project is adhering to client criteria and scope.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and documentation of activity for the client and project management.
  • Assist in obtaining, analyzing, and circulating technical and contractual information to project disciplines.
  • May be responsible for the scope development, scope management and commercial performance of projects to meet project goals and objectives.
  • Assist functional managers to identify company resources, through liaison with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries, to create project teams capable of completing effective, quality work. 
  • Assists in identifying new project pursuits, gathers intelligence regarding these pursuits, participates in Parsons’ pursuit process, and may lead response to client requests for proposals/qualifications.

Requirements :

  • A 4-year degree in Civil   Engineering (or related field) and 5 years or more of related work experience is required.  Professional Engineer ( PE) is preferred, EIT is required.   
  • Roadway & Highway design experience.  Geometric design is required.  Tennesse/ Indiana DOT Project  or Kentucky DOT  experience is also highly desirable.  Microstation/Inroads/ is required. Open Roads experience is desirable.
