In this role, you can look forward to supporting our Mechanical System Integrated Product Team (IPT) through primarily providing contributions to flight design, using NX and/or CREO CAD systems to design mechanical hardware which will include both metallic and composite components, for our Dream Chaser spacecraft. The IPT team has ownership of the following subsystems:
- Flight Control System
- Land Gear System
- Wing System
- Hatch System
- Vehicle Separation System

Must-haves:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
Previous experience in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration & test
Experience in the mechanical design of spacecraft and/or aircraft
Mechanisms design
Hydraulic/pneumatic system design and routing
3D CAD design using NX (preferred) or Solidworks including working with large assemblies
Mechanical Drafting including expertise with GD&T, assembly drawings, detail part drawings
Configuration management (PDM, PLM) preferably using Windchill
Preferred:
Understanding of applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5
Experience in Engineering Simulation such as Finite Element structural Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Thermal Analysis
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing, and production processes
