Pediatric OR Clinical Nurse Department Description The Main Operating Room has 24 operating rooms, Children's Surgery Center has 6 operating rooms and Same Day Surgery Center has 4 operating rooms. The majority of the surgical procedures performed tend to be complex. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, patient care is provided to a wide range of surgical services including: Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Thoracic, Burn, Trauma, Gyn, Urology, Pediatrics, Transplant, and General Surgery. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Responsibilities The Pediatric O.R. Nurse will be assigned to the Children's Surgery Center. Works within the clinical scale of the Job Performance Standards to implement the nursing process. Accountable for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act. Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills. Required Qualifications Recent RN experience in an Operating Room. Minmum 6 months experience in scrubbing and circulating complex surgical procedures. Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Possession of current California RN License. CPR certification. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Knowledge of current trends in nursing. Commitment to excellence in patient care. Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrates accountability and professionalism. Adapts to change in a positive, professional and productive manner. Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation. Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice. Basic computer skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing. CNOR certification Special Requirements Reference report reflect an overall meets or exceeds rating. Ability to work overtime, float to other areas and work weekends and holidays. Ability to safely lift 25 lbs. and assist in moving patients, and stand on feet over extended periods.
