HJF is seeking an Editor (Part-Time) to support the Education directorate of the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) within the Department of Military and Emergency Medicine (MEM) located at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to MEM/CHAMP. This is a part-time telework position, working 24 hours per week during the standard business day. This is a temporary position for approximately 4 months.

The incumbent is responsible for providing editorial skills in connection with all phases of the preparation and issuance of articles, Center and program documents, marketing materials, and other educational content.

  1. Edits and proofreads specialized articles, infographics, social media and blog posts, and other multimedia content for the Human Performance Resources by CHAMP (HPRC) and HPRC Blog evidence-based health and wellness websites. (60%)
  2. Provides editorial support for articles, program documents, marketing materials, newsletters, and multimedia content for HPRC campaigns and other CHAMP projects. (20%)
  3. Copyedits, proofreads, and formats references of specialized articles and other materials to develop educational content with plain language to ease reading and reinforce content. (20%)
  4. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to multitask; expert knowledge of needed software applications (e.g, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote); familiarity of the Chicago Manual of Style.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or media is required.

Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements: 3-5 years of relevant work experience is required.

Work Environment: This is a part-time telework position with hours as approved by supervisor.

Background/Security: Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier I investigation/Public Trust.
