Eaton’s Crouse-Hinds Division is currently seeking a NPI Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our either our Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY location.

Position Overview:

As the NPI Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and designing new products that will penetrate the national and international markets. This role will also require you to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Marketing, Sales, and Operations. It will require you to have strong communication skills, ambition, drive, strong engineering experience, with enthusiasm in the product design arena. The position responsibilities also entail the identification of product adjacencies and identification and execution of cost savings initiatives through Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE).

In this function you will:

+ Mechanical engineering, solid modeling, and product design

+ Assumes accountability for projects assigned and effectively communicates across the project team, to their immediate managers, and to external counterparts, e.g. customers or suppliers.

+ Participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) product and requirements research

+ Maintain and upgrade existing products

+ Assist with 3rd party certifications

+ Develop and test prototypes for new product ideas

+ Create new product specifications

+ Create and maintain project development plans and ensure timely completion to project commitment dates

+ Create and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)

+ Identify and execute cost out projects to drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE)

+ Hands on testing of products, design validation, detail design, and drawing review

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

+ A Bachelor of Engineering degree from an accredited institution

+ Minimum of 2 years engineering experience

+ Minimum of 1 year experience with CAD 3D modeling software experience..

+ Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future

+ No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Highland, IL or Syracuse, NY will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

+ Understanding of phase gate project development

+ Solidworks modeling experience and the ability to develop 2D drawings

+ Experience in product development and design

+ Experience working in a global business environment

+ Knowledge using SAP

+ Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

+ Voice of the Customer (VOC) experience

+ Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

+ Experience performing various engineering tests and analyzing results

Position Criteria:

+ Ability to travel up to 10%

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills

+ Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

+ Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

+ Ability to work in a virtual environment
