Job Description: Summary The Department of 4-H Youth Development with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking qualified candidates for the position of 4-H Youth Development Event Planner I/II. The 4-H Youth Development Event Planner position will be filled at the Event Planner I or II level. The level II position has minimum required qualifications of Bachelorâ??s degree and 2 years of related experience and is a PS807 pay level. The position will coordinate Iowa 4-H events statewide in coordination with program managers, program specialists, extension specialists, and other faculty and staff. They will work with vendors to secure and negotiate terms, locations, and site logistics for meetings and events, including facilities, food and beverage, a udio visual, etc. The position will o versee meeting registrations and p rovide support for risk management with program registrations and procedures. The 4-H Youth Development Event Planner will c oordinate other events including statewide 4-H events, as well as National 4-H events; in-service training programs for faculty/staff, volunteer training and will assist and support fair team with Iowa State Fair. While standard hours for this position are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday â?? Friday, some weeknights and weekends are common. This position has occasional travel, which is mostly in-state. The 4-H Youth Development Event Planner will report to the 4-H State Office Manager and is expected to work independently and cooperatively with others. Regular communications with supervisor and others regarding the status of current activities is essential for effective coordination. The successful candidate will possess the ability to develop a plan of work based on client needs identification; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with individuals and groups; and ability to establish partnerships with leaders. In order to be successful in the position, the candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
