What You'll Be Doing:

You will be working on discovery projects in an industrial setting within our world-class research labs. The successful candidate will work in our state-of-the-art facilities in South San Francisco and employ appropriate in vitro and in vivo techniques to investigate the molecular mechanisms of metabolic disorders. While the research focus of the perspective postdoctoral fellow will be biological questions in basic science, the individual will also be exposed to the drug discovery process and gain knowledge in drug discovery.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• The successful candidate is expected to be able to work productively in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment within and outside of the company.

• The individual is expected to show a high degree of independence and can design, plan, and execute experiments in the laboratory.

• The individual is expected to analyze experimental results with suitable statistical methods and interpret the results appropriately.

• The individual is expected to summarize experimental results for presentations at internal and external meetings and for publication in scientific journals.

What You Need:

• Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD by fall of 2021

• Experience in metabolism, immunology, fibrosis, or a related field

• Technical proficiency, scientific rigor, and productivity evidenced by publications in scientific journals

• Proven ability to solve complex problems by undertaking innovative approaches and applying advanced technologies 

• Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to work as a team player

It's Great If You Have:

• Experience in one or more of the following areas: metabolic disease, fibrotic disease, lipid metabolism, lipidomics, and immunometabolism

• Hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: common molecular biology techniques, cell culture and cell-based assays, rodent handling and experimentation

• Experience in working with large datasets and using appropriate software for data analysis
