Sr. Advanced Electrical Engineer for Hand Held Products Inc., Fort Mill, SC

Responsibilities: 

• Use advanced hardware engineering knowledge by working on products and processes serving customers globally.
• Partner with various project teams to reach effective solutions to complex hardware engineering problems.
• Architect and define rugged, environmentally sealed, low power, portable battery-operated mobile computing platforms for sensing and data collection.
• Work with cross-functional teams and across sites to develop platform and reuse strategies for complex sensing and mobile computing platforms.
•  Work with the key stakeholders on early maturing and on-boarding new technologies into NPI Electrical design, simulation, and testing.
•  Ensure proper feasibility and retirement of technical risk on emerging technologies early in the development cycle.
• Develop common strategies and IP for mobile platforms integrating 32-bit applications processors, volatile and non-volatile memories, wired and wireless communications, sensor integration, display and touch user interfaces, and primary and secondary rechargeable power systems that will drive high levels of reuse across product designs.
•  Accelerate ideation and concept generation through identifying, maturing, and implementing new technologies, materials, and rapid prototyping techniques.
• Work with other development teams across SPS organization to define opportunities for technical reuse across other GBEs and utilize established Honeywell product development processes to ensure that projects are completed on time and on budget.

YOU MUST HAVE:     

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field and seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or acceptable alternate occupation. Full term of experience must include: designing and developing multiple products through their full lifecycle; product development, manufacturing, design and simulation methods and techniques; electronic design principles, including FMEA; electronic design of battery powered mobile computing platforms utilizing low power application processors; mobile computing architectures, including evaluation and selection of components such as processors, memories, displays, sensors, audio and batteries/cells; designing for EMI/EMC compliance and regulatory/certification standards; radio communication technologies (cellular, Wi-Fi, BT, and NFC) and their integration; working as part of a cross-functional team to deliver optimal solutions; designing products for non-Incendive, intrinsic safety, and functional safety requirements; designing products meeting hazardous location use for Class 1, II , III Division 2 as per ISA12.12.01 , Class 1, II, III,  Division 1 as per UL913 for North America/Canada, and ATEX Zone 1 & Zone 2 as per EN/IEC 60079 for Europe and the rest of the world; ATEX and IECEx design processes across product lines to meet safety requirements as per IEC60079-34 in Hazloc product domain. Approximately 10% domestic/international travel required.
