Position Summary: Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Child Health Institute at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Postdoc will be responsible for the design, analysis, interpretation and presentation in oral and written form of experiment focused on studying the regulation of sex-specific signaling at synapses. The project is part of a larger effort in the lab to define the role of intracellular signaling in establishing male bias in intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder. The Postdoc will participate in lab meetings, research in progress seminars, and presentations at conferences. The candidate will prepare manuscripts based on their research, aid in developing the PI's grant applications and will be expected to apply for personal grant funding. Multiple resources for career development to aid with these requirements will be provided by the PI and the Office for Postdoctoral Affairs. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Designs, performs and analyzes experiments to define how intracellular signaling is differentially regulated in the brain of male and female mice leading to altered behavior. Performs and develops cellular assays and/or behavioral paradigms to test cognitive function, sociability, anxiety and motor activity in rodents. Performs animal husbandry on mouse colony to generate the experimental animals needed, monitors animal health and ensures that all animal protocol rules and regulations are followed by self and other users in the colony. Compiles and analyzes data with appropriate statistical analysis, conclusions and future directions in support of further CHI research. Keeps up to date on the relevant literature in both peer-reviewed and preprint form and assists the PI in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications relevant to own experimental work. Minimum Education and Experience: Hold a PhD in Neuroscience or relevant biological sciences. Expertise in live microscopy, FLIM and FRET . Interest in analyzing sex-specific changes in molecular, physiological and behavioral parameters. Candidates in all but degree ( ABD ) status will also be considered. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to work with rodents. Able to perform laboratory research. Effective oral and written communication skills. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office, GraphPad, or other statistical analysis platform. Highly motivated, self-driven, creative, and interactive. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Preferred Qualifications: Previous research experience in studying sex-specific mechanisms and sex differences. Expertise in biochemistry, cell biology, confocal and 2-photon imaging, and mouse genetics. Posting Number: 21ST0039 Location: Downtown New Brunswick
