Position Summary: The laboratory of Dr. Tracy Tran in the Department of Biological Sciences, Rutgers University – Newark is seeking Post-Doctoral Associate(s) to participate in exciting research to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying neural circuit development, maintenance, and function in the mammalian nervous system. The wiring of neuronal circuits requires the precise formation and subsequent refinement of synapses during postnatal development. The vast majority of excitatory synapses in the mammalian CNS are formed on dendritic spines. The morphology of the dendritic arbor and distribution of spines are critical determinants of proper circuit function. Thus, the overarching goal of the lab is to better understand how molecular cues regulate neuronal morphogenesis and synapse development and enable complex behavior. See our latest publications at: https://www.jneurosci.org/content/39/45/8845 and https://www.neuralconnectlab.org/ Job Responsibilities: The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting experiments using transgenic and gene targeted mice for selective labeling and manipulation of neuronal functions (some electrophysiology and behavior analysis), biochemistry, immunohistochemistry, in utero electroporation, primary neuronal cultures, and confocal microscopy. The candidates will also perform data analysis and write/prepare manuscripts for submission. Minimum Education and Experience: Ph.D. degree in Biology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, or related field. Physical Demands and Work Environment: Laboratory environment. Posting Number: 21FA0019 Location: Rutgers University-Newark
