Bargaining Unit: PEF Job Summary: The Department of Nursing, Med Surgery/CPCU at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and University Hospital of Brooklyn is seeking a full time Teaching and Research Center Nurse 3. The successful candidate will: Provide professional nursing care to patients within the framework of the Nursing Process. Diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case finding, health teaching, and health counseling. Provide care supportive to and restorative of health and well-being. Maintain safe levels of care while adhering to a medical regimen. Promote constructive communication among health team members. Collaborate with the physician and other health care providers. Represent UHB in a positive manner by demonstrating respect and courtesy to all internal and external customers. Communicate effectively with customers, visitors, patients and staff. Contribute to UHBs process improvement activities. Take an active role in managing resources. Use ethical principles to guide decisions and actions consistent with UHBs operating goals and objectives. Use appropriate policies and procedures to deliver quality services. Maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Perform nursing care using the nursing process as the framework. Provide an individualized plan of care based on data collected from the admission assessment and awareness of the expected length of stay. Incorporate patient/family/significant other teaching into routine care of the patient. Cooperate and work collaboratively towards solution that generally benefit all involve parties; works cooperatively with others to accomplish unit and hospital objectives. Maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Foster a professional working environment. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. New York State Registered Professional Nurse license. 2-years of relevant clinical nursing experience. Clinical experience as relevant to specialty. Demonstrate knowledge and application of nursing process. Demonstrate leadership experience.
