As a Secretary in our department, you will act as the primary secretarial resource for the Nurse and the nursing staff on the unit. You will assist in ordering supplies and other assigned duties. You will direct communications within the nursing unit and enter patient information in the patient’s electronic medical record.

 

What you will do in this role:

 

* You must greet and direct visitors at the nurses’ station in a friendly and prompt manner.

 

* Your primary function is to assist the Charge Registered Nurse by coordinating non-clinical activities on the nursing unit.

 

* You are responsible for sending faxes, making copies, and ordering supplies for the unit.

 

* You are responsible for organizing and taking apart a patient’s chart upon admission and discharge.

 

* You are responsible for initiating the processing of physician’s orders and managing information flow among nursing staff, physicians, ancillary departments, patients and other unit guests.

 

 

 

Qualifications

What qualifications you may need:

 

* A high school diploma is required, AS Degree preferred.

 

* A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required.

 

* 1 or more years of experience is preferred.
