Buyer/ Planner - Temporary Assignment (Approx. 6 months)

The Buyer/Planner role will support supply chain activities on sheet metal, springs, stampings, private brand label hand tools, and outside services. This position reports within Operations to the Manager of Procurement.

This Manager for this role is in PA but the candidate can be remote. This is a Temporary Assignment that does not include benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Responsible for obtaining components, materials and services.
  • Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards.
  • Performs cost analysis and volume planning for commodities.
  • Evaluates vendor reliability, developing new supply sources where required.
  • Coordinates Purchasing activities with manufacturing to maintain inventory at planned levels.
  • Recommends cost savings proposals. Plans, schedules and monitors the movement of material through the production cycle.
  • Determine quantity and order date for materials to meet production schedules.
  • Initiates requisition and purchase order and develops schedule based on forecast and historical analysis
  • Coordinate supplier performance reviews.
  • Respond to and collaborate with customer service to resolve blocks in SAP to release customer orders

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years experience in Procurement and or Materials Planning
  • SAP Experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel for analysis required
  • Working knowledge of machine shop practices and fabricated metalworking industry is essential.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and people skills.
  • Demonstrates good judgment when working with the supply base.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
