The Memorial Health Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah is the only children's hospital in southeast Georgia. From the tiniest preemies to the toughest teens, we offer a variety of crucial services. Our expert team provides well-child visits, comprehensive rehabilitation services, surgical care, hematology/oncology, critical care, disease management, child life services and much more. We care for more than 50,000 patients a year.

Our current, 20-bed pediatric unit has a team of specially trained physicians, nurses and child life specialists. We strive to provide state-of-the-art care in a child and family friendly environment. Children in this unit may have anything from a stomach bug and dehydration to an infection requiring IV antibiotics. The medical care team on this unit is equipped to deal with a wide variety of childhood illnesses and injuries. Our 22-bed pediatric special care unit (PSU) is for children who need to stay in the hospital to receive cancer treatment or recover from surgery. The PSU team includes specially certified hematology/oncology physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and child life specialists. They work together to ensure the best possible outcome for every child.

We are looking for a dedicated RRT like you to be a part of our Chidlren's Hospital team. Current opportunities range from PRN to full-time on both day and night shift. 

We are seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide the proper and safe administration of respiratory care to patients across the facility including intermittent and continuous therapy, mechanical ventilation, blood gas sampling and analysis, airway management and non-invasive oxygen and carbon dioxide monitoring of newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

What you will do in this role:
  • You will utilize strong assessment skills to evaluate need and implement respiratory care procedures in accordance with departmental protocol.
  • You will Initiate, monitor and assess oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and airway clearance techniques in accordance with departmental protocol and AARC Guidelines.
  • You will actively participate in respiratory emergency activities, including initiation and maintenance of all artificial airways. 
  • You will initiate, monitor and assess patients on invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation and utilize weaning protocols and provide mechanical ventilation in accordance with departmental policy and AARC Guidelines.
  • You will be responsible for the performance and documentation of blood gases, including preventative maintenance and quality control.
  • You will be able to adequately instruct patients and families in all aspects of respiratory care procedures and confer with physicians and nurses to provide interdisciplinary care.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved Respiratory Therapy program is required.
  • Credentialing as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC is required.
  • State license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Team oriented attitude and strong customer services skills are required.
  • At least one year of Pediatric/Neonatal Respiratory Therapy experience preferred.
