Menlo seeks an outstanding teacher for a full-time open-rank position in mathematics beginning in August 2021. A Ph.D. (completion by August 2021) in mathematics or a related field is preferred, but not required. All specialties are welcome. We are particularly interested in a candidate with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. The course load is eight courses per year. A successful candidate seeking to come in at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor rank should also have an active research program and a record of published scholarship appropriate to that rank. We are also interested in candidates seeking to come in at the Lecturer rank, which does not require a Ph.D.

Candidates should have a passion for conveying the conceptual part of mathematics and be ready to participate in a creative environment. In addition to instruction in mathematics classes, the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with the campus Math Center to cultivate success by all Menlo College students.

Menlo College is a small private undergraduate college that focuses on the practical arts of business in the entrepreneurial economy. A residential college in the heart of Silicon Valley, just outside San Francisco, Menlo College offers degrees in business and psychology. Our students come from all over the world to learn the practical arts of business including leadership, critical thinking, creativity, team building, communication, and the science of behavior. Qualifications:

Candidates must have a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in hand by August 2021 in mathematics or a related field and should have some previous college teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in undergraduate teaching to a diverse student body. Candidates must possess strong interpersonal skills and be able to work in a collaborative and collegial environment.

Responsibilities:

The position requires undergraduate teaching in mathematics with secondary assignments in mentoring and advising undergraduate students, maintaining an active ongoing scholarship program in one’s area of specialty, and active ongoing engagement in shared governance and other services to campus and community.

Rank and salary:

Open rank. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
