Budget Manager-SOM: Health Sciences and Development and Alumni Relations Department-Sacramento Campus Department Description Health Sciences Development and Alumni Relations (HSDA) provides leadership, support, and coordination in generating and sustaining philanthropic funding to UC Davis Health System's teaching, research, clinical, and public service fundraising priorities. THIS IS NOT AN H1- B OPPORTUNITY Interviews may take place on or before 12/31/20 Responsibilities The Budget Manager is responsible for managing the department budget, purchasing, and costs management and administration. Overall responsibilities include ensuring budget controls, accounting and reporting oversight, cost and cash management oversight, financial reporting, purchasing controls, and department audits for compliance with University financial policies to ensure compliance. The position requires in-depth knowledge of all UC budget policies and procedures, independent and sound judgment and outstanding customer service to colleagues, donors, and other departments. Required Qualifications Experience in financial and business management including, planning and financial analysis. Experience with budget and financial planning including establishing goals, objectives, and setting short and long-term priorities. Experience in reviewing, interpreting, and analyzing financial reports and financial forecasting and budget monitoring, Experience performing statistical and quantitative analysis and prepare financial and budget reports. Skills to recognize, define, assess, and communicate budget and/or financial issues and requirements. Experience with principles of cost and fund accounting. Experience with preparation of general and subsidiary ledgers, financial statements, and financial reports. Demonstrated experience using automated financial and payroll systems. Advanced skills to operate computerized system programs to prepare correspondence, reports, budgets, and statistical date. Advanced skills in accounting, word processing, spreadsheet, and scheduling software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Demonstrated knowledge or ability to learn donor and prospect-tracking databases including Advance, Michelangelo, Reeher, and Fundriver and Action OI as well as all University policies related to endowment creation and administration. Excellent verbal and written skills. High level of customer service. Demonstrated experience working in a diverse culture and appreciation for the value of diversity. Ability to establish effective, professional working relationships and be an effective team member. Demonstrated ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications Experience in including Kuali and Decision Line, preferred. Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Development experience in higher education preferably academic health care. Experience using a central campus donor and prospect-tracking database. Knowledge of fundraising best practices and understanding of University and Health System fundraising program and priorities. Special Requirements Occasional evening and weekend work as needed to meet deadlines. This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
