Essential Functions: POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Communications Specialist is under the supervision of the Director of Data Governance in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration in support of the MyDay Project.? This position will contribute to the effective execution of internal communications associated with change management and organizational transformation efforts related to MyDay, a complex program designed to improve WashU’s operational excellence and ability to make insight-driven decisions. MyDay is an exciting, once-in-a-generation effort to replace the university’s core administrative IT systems (human resource, finance, and student) and improve associated business processes. The multi-year effort will replace these systems with a single system (Workday) that will integrate the university’s core administrative data in the cloud. The Senior Communications Specialist, who will work as part of a team of communications and change management professionals, plays a central role in developing and implementing plans to create awareness, understanding, engagement, acceptance and adoption of the new system, as well as new ways of working.? This is a time-limited position through the life of the MyDay Student Project, which is scheduled go to live during the 2024-2025 Academic Year.? PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Communications Planning – Develop communications plans in support of an end-to-end change management strategy in support of the Data Governance and MyDay programs. Activities may include, but are not limited to, leading brainstorm and ideation sessions, participating in stakeholder outreach, setting measurable objectives, assessing results, and making recommendations regarding resource needs. Communications Implementation and Evaluation – Manage the day-to-day implementation of communications in support of components of the Data Governance Program. Ensure the right messages get to the right individuals at the right time by identifying and leveraging existing communications channels and recommending new channels if needed. Ensure communications are consistent in terms of messaging and visual branding. Proactively identify and elevate issues and concerns in a timely way. Content Development and Management – Independently, and at times in collaboration with others, prepare communications (speeches, presentations, briefings, web content, articles, e-mail content, video scripts, progress updates, podcasts, etc.) for a variety of internal audiences and relevant communications channels. Review and edit content developed by other members of the Data Governance MyDay teams, as needed.???????????? Performs other duties as assigned. Department Name/Job Location: This position is in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration.  This position is for the Danforth Campus. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of relevant experience in communications planning, implementation, and content development. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, more than five years of internal communications experience and/or experience developing and executing communications in support of change management initiatives in large, complex environments. Higher education and/or IT experience is a plus, as is consulting/agency experience. Creative and strategic thinker who possesses a confident style, coupled with sensitivity, flexibility, and sense of humor. Good judgment, discretion, tact and diplomacy skills. Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, matrix, and consensus-driven environment. Willingness and ability to embrace change and to adapt approaches in a timely way. Superior writing and editing skills, including the ability to translate technical topics into clear and compelling content for a range of audiences and channels. Strong attention to details and deadlines. Sensitivity to visual aesthetics, including the ability to work within established brand standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. Experience with web content management systems, such as Word Press.  Experience working with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (e.g. InDesign and Photoshop). High level of intellectual curiosity to gain thorough understanding of sometimes unfamiliar concepts. Experience in developing and executing targeted email campaigns. Experience with event planning and coordination. Experience with survey tools, specifically Qualtrics is a plus. Job Type/Schedule: This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.  This position is time-limited.  Funding is currently committed up to 6/30/22; continued funding will be requested as the project progresses. Salary Range: The hiring range for this position is $48,087 - $62,517 annually.
