GEICO's Digital Experience & geico.com team is looking for a very talented, enthusiastic, and hard-working team player to join us as a team supervisor to help shape the future of its award-winning app and website in another language! This position is responsible for delivering and managing the end-to-end localization and translation required for GEICO's digital properties, with Spanish as the first language for rollout.

You may provide leadership to a group of designers, researchers, project managers, systems analysts, copywriters, translators, scrum masters, bilingual analysts, and/or developers. You are accountable for the deliverables assigned to your team, and your manager looks to you to drive the activities necessary to meet those deliverables. Your direct reports look to you for assignments, prioritization, evaluation, and approval of their daily work. Reporting to a manager, you will work side by side with other team leads to help provide direction, manage and prioritize workload, and help hone the skills of your team members. You will work closely with others on the management team to help strategize, design, and support the creation of innovative experiences across all our digital platforms. This role collaborates with other members of management, systems analysts, and developers across the entire IT organization. Impactful coaching and individual mentoring are important aspects of your role. You will be one of the leaders on our team who will help energize our team members to advocate for consistent interfaces and experiences for multiple projects across GEICO's digital platforms in any language. The ability to handle several projects and deliver great experiences under pressure is a must. As a team supervisor, you will work to negotiate problem resolution and ensure timelines and deliverable commitments are met. You will guide your team as they encounter challenges and conflicting priorities.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage end-to-end localization and language translation for existing and new products and programs across application areas
  • Drive the right level of process to ensure timely translation delivery in an Agile environment
  • Represent the localization services team and communicate request status and risks to stakeholders
  • Have a firm grasp on the operational and technical aspects of the configuration/set up, access and operation of the translation management system software
  • Support translation memories, terminology databases, and style guides
  • Research and incorporate continuous translation and machine translation best practices and innovation into our localization and translation strategy
  • Be the voice of the international customer, understanding their needs and working with product, design, and engineering teams to meet those needs
  • Foster relationships and coordinate with language service providers and reviewers; mediate SLA disputes and compile quotes for approval
  • Mentor localization team members and communicate to stakeholders the secrets and best practices for a successful localization.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of our workflow
  • Design and present compelling and dynamic presentations
  • Maintain project plans for assignments and product roadmaps for strategic initiatives. Communicateprogress, blockers, and decisions with management and co-workers
  • Maintain and communicate project success criteria, measurement plans, post-implementation reporting

Qualifications:

  • 3 to 5 years in an IT leadership position, with experience managing complex large-scale technology projects
  • Fluency in a Romance or Germanic language other than English, or a linguistic degree is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or IT

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with localization, machine translation, or global software development is a plus
  • Experience with software development lifecycle and technical projects is required, preferably across multiple interdependent teams
  • Experience with Agile methodologies is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and source-code version control (Git) is a plus

Leadership:

  • Results oriented with a track record of successful results and project delivery with strong project management and organization skills
  • Track record of developing, coaching and mentoring others;
  • Ability to use data and metrics to identify business and technical problems, make decisions and measure success
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload across multiple projects and experience working in a matrixed team environment
  • Great verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members and project stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capacity for learning technical, usability, and/or business-related concepts and adaptation to new technologies
