Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible for all maintenance and repair of process equipment as well as maintenance and upkeep of the Colorado Springs facility. This includes all PM’s and unscheduled repairs; manage relationship with building ownership; spare parts management; vendor management; and project management related to continuous improvement of both facilities and process. This position works 3rd shift, and the pay range is between $17.50 - $20 per hour.



Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering and manufacturing staff to improve machine availability through thorough completion of all scheduled preventive maintenance of both process, safety and facilities equipment
  • Manage PM workload and complete all required PM transactions in SAP
  • Work closely with engineering on new process / equipment install, debug and qualification
  • Repair electric, pneumatic and hydraulic circuits as needed
  • Replace defective components to restore proper operation of equipment and mechanical systems
  • Make modifications to equipment to achieve desired results and maintains accurate records and metrics related to machine downtime due to maintenance issues
  • Work with contractors verifying compliance to desired results
  • Perform activities relating to 6s in order to drive better workplace standardization
  • Deliver timely responses to safety observations, quality audits, and 6s audit findings
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area and perform duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures
  • Promptly responds to minimize downtime, and drive improvements
  • Complete all required trouble shooting and repair of both process and facilities equipment
  • Serve as liaison between Franklin team and building ownership team to manage project work, repairs per the lease agreement
  • Perform regular calibration checks and make necessary process related adjustments on process equipment
  • Attain fork truck / powered industrial truck license as well as attain certification as powered industrial truck trainer
  • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure adequate supply of critical spares and maintain accurate history and contacts for critical parts suppliers
  • Manage expenditures within allocated budget and plan
  • Work with potential suppliers to drive cost savings associated with spare parts purchases
  • Manage vendor relationship with various suppliers; safety shoe program, Fastenal, Cintas & Unifirst
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement activities such as 6s, Kaizen events, etc.
  • Assist in training manufacturing personnel in the operation of new and existing equipment and processes
  • Assist manufacturing in resolving problems or concerns that arise during the manufacturing process
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks as assigned in support of the larger organization and production goals


Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and proven ability in maintenance & repair of process & facilities equipment
  • Strong computer skills to complete required transactions related to maintenance, repair, and supplier requisitions
  • Ability to learn and understand all related process equipment and facilities systems and trouble shoot those systems
  • Ability to adapt to work environment, work force and customers’ needs
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions, perform math computations and computer data entry
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb a ladder up to 15 ft. and walk and stand during entire shift
  • Strong proponent of safety improvement program; maintain a clean and safe work area and wear required Personal Protective Equipment
  • Perform duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures and communicates potential hazards and works to correct the situation immediately
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully engage with all the key stakeholders, including outside vendors, manufacturing team, engineering & R&D teams
  • Good visual ability to perform intricate maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to flex schedule and respond to “On Call” situations during business-critical times
