SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER , MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo)-Application Development Team , to collaborate with investment management, real estate development, and operation professionals to design and build applications to meet MITIMCo's investment analytics and operational data management needs. Responsibilities include providing thought leadership and hands-on technical expertise on the development, architecture, and operations of MITIMCo's data platform and supporting applications, including designing and developing new applications or features within existing applications and troubleshooting or debugging programs; providing guidance to business stakeholders on pragmatic solutions to business requirements, system options, risk, cost vs. benefits, and impacts on processes and goals; collaborating with the business lines and development team and providing technical expertise to architect new solutions and review existing application architecture to ensure developed applications can meet current and future business needs; contributing to code reviews and collaborating to ensure best practices are adhered to within the application codebase; acting as a mentor to junior engineers and helping to establish technical standards and best practices; designing, developing, and maintaining CI/CD and unit testing frameworks; monitoring production environments and researching and resolving support issues; and evaluating current operating model against new technologies and techniques to identify areas of improvement. Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in math, finance, computer science, or related field; at least 10 years' experience in application development related to the investment management and/or real estate business; ability to implement and understand software engineering design patterns; strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage time effectively, execute successfully under minimal supervision, and work closely and effectively with technical and nontechnical users; and discretion and judgement with confidential information/subject matter.
