ENSCO’s Applied Technology and Engineering (ATE) Division designs, develops, and manufactures precision, high-speed, real-time track inspection systems and associated decision-making software packages for the national and international railway market. We are looking for a Software Developer to assist in improving our software products to enable our clients to improved data driven decision making to support their operations.

This vacancy will be based in Charlottesville VA for an Senior Software Engineer. A successful candidate will have strong experience in Software Application Design and Development, Application Integration, Database design and Development as well as Cloud Infrastructure design and implementation.





Key Responsibilities
  • Team member in Sprint planning,
  • Member of software design, development and testing features
  • Analyze requirements and develop design documents using UML
  • Review and debug code
  • Implement technical design with high coding standards along with Unit and Integration testing
  • Provide updates and feedback to technical leads and project managers
  • Support cloud infrastructure design and implementation

Qualifications Required (Skills)

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field. 5 years relate experience in the field.
  • Working knowledge of Java 7 and above, JavaScript MVC, jQuery and ReactJS
  • Working knowledge of any relational database like MS SQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL and Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Familiarity with charting libraries like d3.js, HighCharts, ChartJS or PlotLy
  • Knowledge of working with any Map APIs like OpenStreetMap, Google Maps and Mapbox
  • Experience performing Unit and Integration testing using Junit 4 and above
  • Working experience of Ant and Maven build tools
  • Experience administering Apache Tomcat and HTTP Servers
  • Knowledge of database performance tuning and backup management
  • Knowledge of source code and version control management systems like CVS, GitHub and GitLab
  • Experience in building CI/CD automation pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools
  • Experience with Digital Certificate management and configuration including SSL certificates for application servers and web applications
  • Work experience with GIS (Geographic Information Systems)
  • Experience writing batch, bash, json and yaml scripts
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail in maintaining documentation

Qualifications Desired

  • Familiarity with C# and Python programming languages
  • Hands-on-experience on Network, System Administration and DevOps in AWS Cloud Platform
  • Good to have MS SQL Server database administration knowledge including applying security patches and maintaining user roles and access
  • Previous work experience in IT systems administration, maintenance of Linux/Unix and Windows physical and virtual servers
  • Experience working with FTP and Mail Servers
  • Ensure compliance with Federal IT Security requirements, including patch scheduling and vulnerability remediation
