Provides clerical support by answering telephones, scheduling and registering patients.Verifies insurance coverage, obtains patient demographics, ensures necessary authorizations are obtained prior to patient visits, processes medical record requests, and troubleshoot billing problems.Receives payments, posts payment appropriately, and handles cash drawer.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma – required.
Associate’s Degree – preferred.
Licensures and Certifications:
Medical Terminology – preferred.
Experience:
- Experience in high volume specialty physician practice office as typically acquired in one year – preferred.
- Experience with EPIC (eHR) – preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of managed care, Medi-Cal, Medicare eligibility, authorization and billing requirements, and physician billing procedures
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including; Excel, Word, Access, or other similar programs
Ability to identify problems, prioritize, problem solve
Basic keyboarding and computer skills
Basic knowledge of English language, grammar, and composition
Basic math skills demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Medical billing skills sufficient to coordinate authorization and billing requests
