Surgical Veterinary Technician

Kelly Outsourcing & Consulting Group (KellyOCG), a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, Inc., is currently seeking a Surgical Veterinary Technician  for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients in Cincinnati, Ohio.  This role is a full-time, fully benefited position.   As a KellyOCG employee you will be eligible for Medical, Dental, 401K and a variety of other benefits to choose from.   You’ll also be eligible for paid time off, including holiday, vacation and sick/personal time.  All KellyOCG employees receive annual performance reviews.

Responsibilities

Provide veterinary technical assistance in preparing for and conducting survival, non-survival (acute), and inanimate (including cadaver) labs in Preclinical Research.

Administer and maintain anesthesia and recover animals in a way that ensures humane animal care and use at all times.

   Ensure that lab areas, including surgical suites and surgical support areas, are set-up and supplied with appropriate instrumentation and lab equipment.

Ensure that lab areas, including surgical suites and support areas, are restored to proper order at the conclusion of labs. This may include appropriately disposing of single-use items, putting away lab equipment, and washing reusable instrumentation.

Adherence to research protocol guidelines for survival and acute lab procedures.

Maintain lab and instrumentation sterility in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.

Ensure proper documentation and record keeping in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.

Maintain inventory of instrumentation, supplies, and equipment in compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.

Quality-check (QC) appropriate documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements and departmental procedures.

Participate in required annual health surveillance program (including the completion of blood-borne pathogen training and respirator fit testing).

Participate in quarterly audit sweeps to maintain regulatory and departmental compliance.

Complete appropriate cross-training for Clinical Education, and Vivarium specific duties as necessary.

Receive schedule assignments from RVT scheduler who identifies gaps and proactively notifies management of conflicts.

Participate in weekend and holiday treatment coverage on a rotational basis.

Communicate personnel issue escalation through KOCG Operations Manager.

Requirements :

Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Technology required.

Must be registered veterinary technician

Degree or Certification in Veterinary Science preferred.

Previous animal work with large/farm animals preferred

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and math skills.

Ability to consistently follow directions and work under pressure.

Excellent customer service skills.

Must be a proficiency user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds
