Position Summary:

This highly specialized position will support all functions of the NYU Langone Health’s HR Solutions Center.  The position will identify, research, process, resolve and respond to employee inquiries and correspondence via telephone, written communications and/or in person within the expected timeframe. Applies subject matter expertise and knowledge in multiple Human Resources disciplines.  The person will possess skills focused on operational excellence, compliance and HR providing top service while offering HR functional expertise. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Uses a variety of methods including HR colleagues, departments across the institution, internal/external vendors and system to properly address the needs of HR customers.  
  • Documents and analyses chain of events and applies knowledge to resolve inquiries and recommend solutions addressing business issues.  
  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve most problems in multiple areas of Human Resources.
  • Selects appropriate work procedures or approaches to address work challenges and daily responsibilities.
  • Troubleshoots and researches root cause of how employee data issues occur and develop recommended ways to remediate.
  • Triage and escalate issues for benefits, MSS Support and understand when to reach out to HRIT and MCIT for issues.
  • Understand why escalations occur and recommend ways to avoid future escalations.
  • Participates in special projects as requested, and ensures all assigned tasks are completed timely.  Reports on status regularly and seeks clarification when necessary.
  • Leverage various software applications such as PeopleSoft, On Base, Salesforce, Silk Road, Red Carpet, Saba (Focus Performance)
  • Surfaces process improvement ideas for how we serve employees and managers based on the interactions and inquiries handled. 
  • Helps implement continuous improvement projects, which could include process, procedure and knowledge documentation to enhance how support and services are delivered. 
  • Support all scope of the HR Solutions Center, including compliance with some specifics below:

Benefits Services Management:

  • Service employee benefit inquires related to health and wellness/welfare, tuition, retirement, leave of absence and worker’s compensation. 
  • Adhere to service level agreement (SLAs) to manage and follow-up with assignments and respond to an inquiries by the required target date.
  • Support Life events, Open Enrollment and Retirement Savings Plans
  • Knowledge of federal, state, city laws governed specific to COBRA, Leave of Absence and Worker’s Compensation
  • Ability to troubleshoot and reach out to vendors to support the daily operations. 
  • Perform extensive research for escalations with ability to connect plan, policy and case information to provide a recommended outcome  

MSS Intake:

  • Supports managers with transaction specific to pay and job analysis and inquiries.  Managers will require assistance with salary adjustment, bonus, promotion/demotion, or a job description review.
  • Supports employees with transaction specific to pay and job analysis and inquiries.  Employees requesting information on probationary periods, and increase programs.

Onboarding:

  • Manage process from start to completion.  Staff will required to review and verify background checks, education, assist with internal transfers, reviewing of files for compliance, processing I-9, obtain security clearance, achieve medical clearance.
  • Proactively schedule appointment and trainings for new hires.
  • Assist Talent Acquisition Specialist and Department Managers.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Two or more years of college and one year of related professional experience, such as HR or administrative operations.  Bachelor’s preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer focused ability with an emphasis on the employee experience. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple, frequently shifting priorities.  Ability to handle matters of a highly confidential nature; perceptive; anticipates, detailed oriented, accurate and organized.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Data entry skills including excellent data quality, demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail in work.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, seeking the ideas of others and valuing differing perspectives.
  • Capability to solve problems in a timely manner and take initiative to make processes and programs better.
  • Ability to handle multiple requests in a timely manner.
  • General analytical and problem solving skills knowing how to identify when issues need to be escalated.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and maintain objectivity under pressure.
  • Prefer experience in software applications such as PeopleSoft, On Base, Salesforce, Silk Road, Red Carpet, Saba.
