Job Description

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

**This position is contingent upon customer funding of the position.**

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks under general supervision of a senior level engineer, involved in the installation, operations, testing and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems.

  1. Conducts research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information and keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty.
  2. Performs engineering or other highly technical tasks that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character.
  3. Plans and carries out successive engineering steps and resolves technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations.
  4. Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared.
  5. Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.
  6. Using computer-assisted test methods, conducts laboratory investigations on equipment or systems.
  7. Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence or technical studies.
  8. Studies currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the engineering specialty.
  9. Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.
  10. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

The candidate should have an understanding of Telemetry systems and understand signal flow of a given system. The job duties include but are not limited to specializing in Telemetry for real-time operations, data transport systems, and network systems under general technical guidance. Real-time support duties include establishing end-to-end connectivity with pre-mission checks for voice, video, and data. Monitoring real-time missions for abnormalities and correcting real-time issues as they arise. They must have an understanding of local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN), also must possess knowledge of transport and networking equipment associated with data transport. Recommended that they understand various types of data transmission equipment such as fiber optics, twisted pair and RF cable. Must be able to work with the Drafting department on engineering drawings and be able to use Visio. Recommended that they have the ability to terminate various type of RF and other copper based cabling. They must be able to work independantly as well as part of a team and make decisions in pressure situations. The candidate must be able to work overtime including weekends as well as different shifts to accommodate various mission support objectives. Will perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with established procedures (Local Work Cards), operating procedures, tech manuals, and other official documentation. Creating local trouble tickets and using Maximo to track work performed as required by procedures. Regular interfacing and communicating with the customers through email, phone, and face-to-face meetings.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Practical knowledge of aircraft telemetry, voice, and video data transmission. Knowledge in Maximo, tool control, logistics, safety, quality control, and preventative maintenance.

REQUIREMENTS --EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 7 or more years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field. Must have a professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles, and a familiarity with related engineering fields. Must have a practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions. Incumbent must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain a Security Clearance with special access.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Ranges supported by JT4 include the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), the Space Test and Training Range (STTR) at Schriever Air Force Base, the Utah Test and Training Range (UTTR), the Air Force Test Center 412th Test Wing (412TW) at Edwards Air Force Base, and the Navy China Lake Ranges (CLR) including Pt. Mugu, California. JT4 is supported by several teammate companies on the J-Tech II Contract. Together we develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments. We prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
