As a Director of Supply Expense Management, you will be responsible for leading non-labor expense savings, product standardization, and utilization for an independent hospital to a large healthcare system. You will have the opportunity to utilize HealthTrust’s value analysis methodology that includes assessing applicable financial, clinical, operational, and evidence based literature for selection, evaluation, monitoring, and implementation.

In this role you will be responsible for the below activities:

  • Providing leadership and direction in the area of supply expense management related to non-labor expense to support organization’s strategy.
  • Assimilating information from variety of sources, able to analyze data and makes recommendations and executes a course of action.
  • Developing, implementing, and coordinating within the hospital or system:
    • Policies and procedures related to supply expense management.
    • Product standardization and utilization
  • Directing and/or leading cross-functional service line teams to develop and implement solutions to complex supply expense solutions.
  • Interacting and developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders to better understand needs and challenges, and sets achievable customer expectations.
  • Supporting customer’s through the “Streetwise” database to ensure supply improvement ideas are up to date and new ideas are identified and published in a timely manner.
  • Utilizing customer feedback to improve products and services.
  • Participating in the selling process, as needed.
  • Providing and assisting with implementation of cost saving enhancement strategies.
  • Demonstrating the ability to analyze financial and clinical data to identify variation opportunities and make recommendations on product standardization, contract opportunities and savings opportunities.
  • Demonstrating the ability to track and analyze financial data for initiatives and projects.
  • Developing standardized documents, processes, and calculations for use by the supply expense management team to quantify supply savings solutions.
  • Demonstrating financial acumen which includes providing the customer with a cost/benefit analysis.
  • Executing on supply expense improvement incorporating cost, quality and outcomes.
  • Appling strong data analysis skills to translate into an actionable plan.
  • Demonstrating the ability to develop a project plan for major projects.
  • Developing milestones for projects to determine outcomes and deadlines are achieved.
  • Directing multiple projects and tasks in a fast paced environment and the ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate to achieve deadlines.
  • Providing effective communication which includes verbal and good listening skills; writing, and presentation skills to a variety of stakeholders from executives to staff.

 

 

Qualifications

 

What you need to be considered for this role:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Administration, Clinical Lab Science, or Nursing or an accredited school of nursing graduate required. MSN, MHA, or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of acute care nursing experience or clinical lab experience in a hospital setting with experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above.
  • Clinical Value Analysis experience highly preferred with experience evaluating complex clinical/Lab product utilization and physician preference items.
  • Computer skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. Software skills with Micro Strategies, Tableau, or other data warehouse programs highly preferred.
